The Task

Switching to a new break space solution demanded a shift in thinking. We needed to align the needs of all staff both in the retail head office and the larger logistics distribution centre. The existing canteen set-up didn’t reflect the choice and variety of what staff needed and was time restricting.

The Solution

We know that when people feel appreciated they work better. Specialising in break room design, we worked with our client to address their staff’s needs and concerns- from the large distribution centre to the retail head office space. Using insights and data, we created

new spaces which transformed the traditional canteen and vending areas – contributing to the overall benefits of how showing appreciation to all staff can create a positive ripple effect within a business.

The Result

Increased Productivity rates: Staff reduced time wasted during their break by 30% – more time spent doing what they needed to in order to be more productive during and after their break.

Attracting and retaining staff: We played a role in reducing staff turnover by 20% in the distribution centre over the past 6 months. Contributing to significant costs savings in recruitment and training.

Improved staff engagement: Data shows that there was a seven-fold increase in products purchased from our micromarket and smart vending machines over 6 months – demonstrating increased levels of engagement in the break space.
